Sergio Alcala Soundhat

the themes that inspired this soundhat spawned from norse helmets. i wanted to make a hat reminiscent to the ones they used to take into battle. one theme that also inspired this hat is the video game Skyrim: the elder scrolls V. the reason this video game inspired me to make this hat is that throughout the game there are Draugr. Draugr are undead zombie like warriors that were resuscitated with magic. The higher level the draugr is, the fancer his amror, and abilities are. i wanted this hat to convey the idea that this hat belonged to a very strong, very high-level Draugr. the materials i used to make this hat were paper mache and cardboard. i also used a lot of black paint, just to make it scary.

Santiago Garcia,

The theme of my hat was recycling, and I made a top hat that represents a recycling bin. That contains recycled materials water bottle, paper, newspaper. I used recycled materials for example the cardboard and the paper used.

The hat's base design is that of nature especially seen by the two branches spiraling like a tree and the three pine cones on them.  The hat's form of a cone alludes to that of a Gnome which according to myth are in peace with nature. It is composed from cardboard, paint, wire, 2 tree branches and 3 pine cones.

This hat was made to show the stereotypes of Chicago                        including......                 -the graffiti                     -the garbage because people call it dirty           -blood was on the bottom to show for the violence and murders that happen in Chicago     it took my partner and me  about a month or so to complete the sculpture but I'm glad we took our time because it came out good and better than we expected.

My hat represents my not creative mind and how my life will look empty without my girlfriend because my hat is empty.

The design of our hat consists of a Christmas theme. The top of the hat has a Christmas tree next to a tall sign that says "North Pole" signifying that we are in the north pole. The base of the hat is fur demonstrating the snow in the North Pole. The string around the tree represents the garland of the less fortunate who cannot afford to have a holly jolly merry Christmas. The colors of the hat represent the holiday spirit.

The theme of my hat was pollution. I tried to communicate this environmental problem by placing nature related items on the bottom and then recyclable items on top, to represent how garbage is destroying our environment, It also shows the importance of recycling.

My hat represented my love for music. I've played the flute for 8 years and I wanted to show that music is a big part of my life. I used different instrument to place on the hat. Including recorders, harmonicas, bells and two pianos.

My sculpture is a Chicago Bears Hat. My theme is Football. The materials I used was: cardboard, wrap paper, wire, paint, glue, glue gun, news paper, and gesso. I created this piece of art because I love football and I wanted to build something that demonstrates what I spend my time doing.

This is our first experience creating a "soundhat". We wanted to give you a view to the underwater world and something we both enjoy.

This is my first time ever doing a soundhat. This masterpeice from my imagination is made up of 5 important found items. 1) rainbow fuzz 2)tissue paper 3) sequins 4)words 5) imagination. I decided to build from the bottom up. The bottom features a mosaic peice for all things living. The letters in black are "TERRA" land in Latin. Nature is beautiful and we are here to preserve its glory.
