rene canelo

i choose to do this deer and lion because it is important for me because i like animal and i have this two animal in my hand

Maleny Miranda

My totem was inspired by the ocean, I decided to create a turtle and also a starfish. I painted it blue to represent the ocean.

Giselle najera

Mt totem pole sculpture did not turn out the way i wanted it to. Simply because im not very creative or nor did i know how to make sure how to carve.
My carving skills are not very on point because it was really hard for me to know what i wanted to do.

The totem pole although did represent the different ideas and thoughts that other students had. Mine was just like a more native color themed. the colors were just random.

Irvin Calva

On one side its a squirrel and I chose this animal because a squirrel represents full of energy or to be prepared for what life has to throw at you in the future.

On the other side I chose an ape because it represents strength, intelligence, and keeping peace through aggression.

Miguel Angel Sanchez

this sculpture was brought to me and it caught my attention because i said oh what should i do and my friend Stephanie had her star wars shirt and i said oh R2-D2 and BB8 and then i said oh thats what i should do and i did i first i thought i give up but a star wars fan never gives up and i made it happen and i came out happy with my results.

Yahaira Dear Sculpture

For my sculpture i did a dear. I liked the idea of an animal. Once i started carving it started to look a lot like a dear so i left it that way. i chose those colors because i wanted it to stand out and be able to tell what it actually is. At first it was difficult to decide but once i knew what it was starting to look like i just continue to carve and added a little bit more details to make it more noticeable

Eye Carving/ Cynthia Renteria

The main focus on my carving was an eye with a lot of detail. I started off by drawing small detail so that I could go back later and do a thin layer of carving. After the thin layer sculpted it out a bit, I intensified the carving deeper and painting the details white so that it stood out.

Dolphin & Sea Lion

I choose to carve a dolphin and a sea lion because I had previously visited the Shed Aquarium and I enjoyed looking a them. The Shed Aquarium inpired me to carve a dolphin because I got to experience a wonderful animal. Since the sea lion also lives in the wayer, I decided to carve it. Both animals live in nature and that's something I like, nature.

My cup has four different animals a bear, eagle owl and a wolf. I decided to sculpt these on to my cup because they all represent something that describes me.

Totem carvings

Cassandra Lopez - These were the two designs I chose to carve out. One is a Bumblebee and the other a type of aztec sun. I picked these designs because I liked the meaning they had. The Bumblebee stands for honesty, pure thinking and willingness. The sun stands for light and happiness.

this sculpture was made out of an idea that I seen on pintrest and I decided why not try it and see how it comes out. when making this project yeah there was pain, cutting, and bleeding from the wire, but at the end it came out worth it because it came out to be a good piece of art work.

Deer - Jose Negrete

I crafted this deer using wires, nails, and a block of wood. The animal, a deer, was chosen for its majestic intricate antlers. Something I believed would be really fun to built in which it was

Lion

My sculpture is a lion. The materials I used was: wire, paint, nails and a piece of wood. I created this piece of art because I enjoy learning about animals and the lion is one of my favorite ones to know about. I know a lion is a wild animal but they just do what they need to do to survive.

Flag- Yahaira Camargo

On my wire project I decided to do a flag. I decided to do this because it represents us who live in America. I got the thickest wire to do the pole and I just wrapped it around until it was nice and tight. I then formed the flag into a rectangle shape. After that I wrapped wire around the rectangle to make it more 3D. I then painted the base as the American flag. I let it dry then I decided to nail the flag in the corner.

Tree

This is the sculpture I created using thin and thick wire. The first thing I did was bundle up a lot of straight wire which I then bent to a "U" shape. After it was bent, I started to twist them around and around to give off a trunk texture to the wire. When I reached a good amount I already spread out the wires and then kept twisting. On the ends, I twisted them upward for a leaf effect

"Obsession" By: Stephanie Acevedo and Maleny Miranda

Our group chose to use the word "obsession" to represent the obsession with technology in this generation. We chose to display the sculpture outside an Apple store because Apple is one of the most popular brands for technology. We wanted to raise a point. Making it ovbious that our generation cannot live without technology.

"Up & Down"

The phrase that we chose for our sculpture is "Up & Down". We chose this because everyone can relate having ups and downs in their lives as well. We decided to decorate our project with various pictures of scenery in life. The purpose of this is to make a connection with how big the world is with it's beautiful scenery and compare it to any personal problems being faced by the viewer to make them realize how little their problems may actually be. Our phrase is meant to make people question it's actual meaning without the viewer's knowledge of knowing that the meaning is clear and simple. Our group decided that placing our project by the stairs was a good idea so that as student's and visitor's enter the building, they become curious.

3D word sculpture

We choose the word Read Because We wanted To encourage people to read more. Reading is actually a beautiful thing and expands the mind.
We want people to see this and think about books and library's and classrooms where most of the reading and stuff happens .

SHINE

The word we chose was "SHINE." We chose this word because we felt like at some point in time, every teenager has experienced the feeling of not feeling good enough, or not being able to be themselves. Personally, when I was a freshman in high school, I always felt that I was never enough. I always felt like I needed to act a certain way or dress a certain way to impress people. As I grew older each year, I began to realize that it only matters what you think of yourself. People will judge regardless so why not give them something to talk about? We chose to post it next to the gym doors because that is where I would mostly feel like I needed to act a certain way, since I was always a shy kid and never played with any other kids in gym class. And to who ever sees this in the hallway, make the best you SHINE.

"HOPE"

Artist's Statement: The word I choose was "Hope". I decided to put the color it has because I want others to get inspired to not give up and always have hope. Looking at a sunset is one of the most beautiful nature views on earth. On the left of the letter "H", I drew a cancer signed to signify breast cancer. I did it specifically of breast cancer because my grandma died of that. I want others to not give up and fight everyday like I know my grandma did. The materials used: tape(brown), cardboard, cups, glue, paint, and gun glue. I hope viewers get inspired to help others by either running the cancer marathon or donating money to help people that are fighting cancer.

this project was made to make a difference, it was also made to make a change, and last but not least it was also made to let you think about your own themes that makes you want to chnage about this world we live in. we came up with this idea to inspire people to make a difference and if you notice that each person made their own ltter a certain and different fonts to be different.

"PURITY" Word Sculpture

Artist Statement:
Our 3D word sculpture is "Purity" because if u look at our modernized compared to the past a person can see the difference in "Purity". In our current society it is very hard to find something that can actually b labeled as pure and to express that we decided to put our word against a colorful, random, and changing in pattern rug to represent our current society and then we have the black and white rug, with the change in only a limited amount of patterns to express the slowly developing past.

The vision to our work is to show warmth and kindness & something fun for everyone young or old.  What we were trying to communicate with our artwork is to be happy and be kind also have fun enjoy yourself as you did in your childhood. To form our word "fuzzy" we used string and different type of colors ,and animated letters so that they would be standing out. We hope that the views see this as a recall to their childhood as a warm, fun and happy time.

Yahaira, Cynthia

The overall concept of this structure was to inspire those who are involved in any type of competitive sport. The word we chose,"WIN" , is to inspire individuals to strive to do better and to always try their best when competing. Some of the materials that we used throughout our process of making our structure is cardboard, tape, paper cups and a lot of different colored paint. We specifically used tape to sculpt the sport equipment which gave it an overall full shape when they were installed. As we finished construction, we started to design precise detail to the balls so that the overall picture started to come together. Instead of using only one sport, we used three. Having a variety shows that anyone in any sport has gone through the competitive phase. We hope that Athletes become motivated by seeing this art piece considering everyone wants the chance to be number one and win!
